Our Impact

APC works to advance and support community programs that seek to improve the overall health of communities, especially in relationship to family planning (FP). Through global technical leadership and collaboration, APC’s goal is to increase support for and commitment to community-based family planning in USAID priority countries. APC aims to increase access to quality FP services, expand the contraceptive method mix, and improve upon organizations’ capability to manage USAID funds and implement high quality and innovative community-based health programs.

It assesses capability in five key areas: governance, organizational management, program management, human resources management, and financial management. The results are compiled into an agreed-upon action plan that maps priority areas and actions that the organization will take to address problems and gaps.

As the Ebola outbreak raged, the Government of Liberia and partners introduced new financial incentives to compensate frontline health workers for the severe risks encountered when combatting the disease. To avoid issues with payment, mSTAR worked with the Government of Liberia’s Ministry of Health to build a set of standard operating procedures for payments to health workers through mobile money.

Advancing Partners & Communities selected the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons, a graduate medical residency program that supports advanced training for physicians across a range of medical specialties, to independently manage the complex medical and surgical cases of Ebola survivors, as well as to offer specialty care to the general population.
