The PSAs, funded by USAID and the U.S President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, were developed for television and radio by a working group comprising local writer Mosa Telford, local actors, NAPS representatives, community-based organizations, APC, and experts from JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc.

SASOD is committed to ending all forms of homophobia in Guyana, including transphobia, biphobia and lesbophibia. To achieve this goal, our Homophobia(s) Programme, focuses on engaging key sectors of society where anti-LGBT prejudices are prevalent. Through a discrimination reporting and documentation system, awareness, sensitization and education activities and direct engagement with key stakeholders, the Programme seeks to cultivate positive changes in attitudes which drive stigma and discrimination against LGBT people.

Guyana Trans United’s main goals are to improve the quality of life of trans Guyanese and to ensure that their rights are recognized and upheld in all domains. GTU hosts monthly support group sessions for our members, their families, other loved ones, and conducts outreaches in the ten (10) administrative regions of Guyana. We also work with other lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) communities, human rights and social justice groups on advocacy and awareness raising initiatives.

Aashish is a 43 year old men who have sex with men (MSM), an alcoholic, and a chain smoker. On his initial visit to FACT, Aashish was enrolled in a support group for MSM. In group discussion, he was educated on the benefits of consistent condom use as well as the importance of good nutrition and healthy food choices.
