Through a grant awarded under Advancing Partners & Communities, the University of Pittsburgh is developing the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals (ISWP) which will be a self-sustained network of international and regional partners dedicated to the professionalization of wheelchair (WC) services around the world.

The University of Pittsburgh is a state-related research university, founded as the Pittsburgh Academy in 1787. Pitt is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), which comprises 62 preeminent doctorate-granting research institutions in North America.

World Education over the past twenty years has improved emergency medical care, vocational opportunities, and the economic status of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) accident survivors and people with disabilities in UXO impacted provinces in Laos. The Lao TEAM Project will combine World Education’s successful experience in assisting Lao UXO survivors and people with disabilities with WEI’s understanding of how to manage sub-grants, to build the capacity of local organizations, and to coordinate local and international organizations working for the same purpose.

World Education improves the quality of life through education for half a million children and adults in 22 countries. World Education's training programs improve adult education, help displaced peoples, stem the tide of HIV, and reduce violence through conflict resolution. World Education is a leader in building the skills, knowledge and resources of local groups so they can accomplish their missions effectively.

APC awarded Physicians for Peace one of the Child Blindness grants to expand the reach of their existing vision care program to elementary school children and indigenous Filipinos in underserved areas throughout the Philippines.
