CHSC Definitions: CHW Cadres

Country: Countries include USAID PRH priority countries and countries of interest to APC’s work in CBFP.

Health Intervention Area: The major health areas for which CHWs provide services.

Cadre data in National HMIS: Indicates whether data collected by each cadre is recorded in the national HMIS.

CHW Remuneration: How CHWs are compensated for their services. Salary indicates consistent payment, whereas financial incentives refer to payment for short-term or one-time services.

Commodities: Types of health commodities distributed by each cadre.

Supervisors: Personnel or group responsible for supervising the cadre. A combination includes any combination of the five options listed.

Training requirements: The duration of job training that is provided by the program once a CHW is hired or selected.

CHW Role in Policy: Indicates whether the cadre’s role is standardized by national policy or strategy. If so, provides in which policy the standards can be found.
